Curry breaks yet another historic three-point record against Jazz
The Warriors avoided a blown lead Saturday night versus the Jazz, they were up by as much as 15+ points but found themselves down in the fourth quarter. Thanks to the team effort and Curry’s three-point and all-around shot-making, they were able to pull away and seal the win. But during the game, the broadcast crew showed another record that Curry had surpassed, his own.
The graphic displayed was most consecutive games with at least one three-pointer. At the top of the list was Steph with 157 consecutive threes made from 2014-16. But Saturday’s game would see him surpass that, now sitting at 158 in a row since 2018. Not only does he have the most three made ever but he also has the most games with at least one three made.
Just let that sink in for a moment. No one is even close to his level when it comes to threes and the ability to make them. The next closest player on that list was Kyle Korver back in 2012-13 but he was at least 30 shy of the number one spot. No other player that we know of has even come close to cracking that record nor the all-time threes made that he set in Madison Square Garden.
It feels like every three he makes is record-breaking from now on, and it is. The day after the Nuggets game Curry told reporters, “It’s a weird thought to think that every three I make will be a new record.” And the weirdness has shown, maybe it is just nerves from all the record-breaking but this season Steph hasn’t been himself percentage-wise, yet.
But it just shows his character and leadership to still be able to lead the team to wins alongside Draymond and others when they need him most. And obviously, he is still breaking records along the way. All credit to him, as this season has been plagued with injuries and players having to sit out due to health and safety protocols. Maybe we don’t give him enough credit where it’s due, as the expectations for him are extremely high. We all just assume that he will make at least one three or crazy deep shot during the game and that has drawn in so many fans. So many people fall in love with the game because of how easy he makes it look.
The two records I mentioned are no different as it was not a matter of if he could but a matter of when he would surpass these great feats. Not to mention the fact that he is only 33 years old, fans should keep this in mind when they watch NBA basketball. We see Lebron still putting up numbers as if he was in his prime and he just turned 37.
If Curry can keep this up for the next few years and still be an average shooter for the next couple after that, then he can reach marks we didn’t even think were possible. This is why guys like Austin Rivers hate him and the Warriors so much, because of how good he is and how good he has stayed, as it feels like this version of himself can be up to par with 2015-16, MVP level Steph. And the passing of this record has proven so, as he first set it back when he won the MVPs, a prime that he is trying to preserve and possibly surpass this year.
