Warriors amongst the best teams in the NBA against the spread
As more and more states across the United States continue to legalize sports gambling, it is worth noting one of the most profitable teams against the spread in the NBA, The Golden State Warriors.
With a record of 17-9-1 ATS, the Dubs have proven to be a powerhouse for sports betting sharps and novices alike. To better understand what all this means, let’s start with how spreads work.
What is a spread?
In sports gambling, Vegas, the mecca of gambling creates “lines” or otherwise referred to as “odds” on just about every professional sports event. For instance, if a team is a favorite, they are valued at minus money, meaning whatever a person bets they will return less than their original bet. Conversely, if a team is an underdog, the prospective team would be plus money, and the original bet would return more money than the initial wager.
Spreads are somewhat difficult to understand, but once you get the hang of them, they are much easier than you may think. Spreads are much like MoneyLine wagers previously mentioned above. A spread, in simpler terms, is the number that Vegas favors the favorite and or allows the underdog to lose by. In nearly every single Warriors contest this year they have been the favorite.
So what does this mean?
Per, TeamRankings.com the Dubs have the second-best rating ATS(against the spread), second only to the Cleveland Cavaliers of all teams. This may be because the Cavs have proven a lot of people wrong (including Vegas), or even due to the budding young stars they possess. Regardless, the Warriors have been a very fun team to watch this season, and with Curry on the brink of breaking all-time three-pointers made records it’s hard to not gravitate towards watching Dubs basketball.
Sure, the Cavs are a fun team to watch, but can any NBA team hold a candle to what Curry, Dray, and Klay have been able to produce for the last decade. I don’t think so. Everyone loves to give Curry all the credit for “changing the game”. However, if not for Dray's passing ability, Klay's floor spacing, catch and shoot abilities, Curry may not have been able to impact the game the same way. This theory applies to sports gambling as well, the Dubs have been the most fun team to watch to date, and because of that they also become a very attractive team to bet on. Provided, it helps that they are good. But safe to say, if you ever have any extra money you wouldn’t mind losing, (always bet with the understanding you may lose) then the Golden State Warriors ATS may be a solid option for you.
