Steph and Ayesha Curry Attend Met Gala Ball

The Met Gala is consistently a global spectacle. Superstars of all brands – athletes, actors, musicians, etc. – are out and about on the red carpet, usually going for eye-catching fashion statements to get on the news. It’s almost a competition to see who has the most cameras on them – a pressure environment not unlike your average NBA game. The gala is a yearly occurrence that NBA stars such as Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook, and other world-class athletes like Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, and Megan Rapinoe are attending this year (although the event has never been short on NBA attendees).

Thus, it makes sense that Warriors superstar Steph Curry, alongside his wife and famous restaurant owner Ayesha, came dressed for the occasion. The couple hit the red carpet alongside some of the world’s biggest stars as a part of their already impressive image as a power couple. The Currys have recently been involved in many philanthropic endeavors around the Bay Area, most recent being a renovated bus for their “Eat. Learn. Play.” Foundation. The bus brings food and learning resources to the underserved communities of Oakland, and will operate on a five to six day week according to reports. It has also been recorded that the foundation has brought over 16 million meals to children and families across the area.

This kind of philanthropy makes it easy to see why the Currys would attend an event when they don’t seem to have much of a flair for the dramatic (unless you count Steph’s on-court celebrations). The Met Gala itself is an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, a philanthropic cause in its own right, that raises millions of dollars every year. It’s good to see the Currys at such an event, representing the Bay and possibly having the ability to connect with more stars that can help them in their philanthropic endeavors. Not only is the Met a great opportunity for connections, but it’s most obviously a great time to smile for the cameras, something the Currys have gotten quite used to in their few years as a two-person success story.
