It's almost here. The anticipation is killing me. This is one of the more important days in the Bob Myers’ era. Anytime you have two picks in the lottery, all eyes are going to be on you and your decisions. Will a trade up be happening on draft day? I don’t think so, this draft is extremely loaded and Bob is happy with his two spots… and no way in hell am I involving James Wiseman in any trade so stop talking about that. Myers will be able to find some studs where he’s at.

So what would be the best possible combination of rookies to come away with on July 29th (that’s my birthday, just a heads up)? You may have seen it from a lot of fans on Twitter or in mock drafts and they would be correct in their predictions.

Davion Mitchell, Baylor

His stock has been skyrocketing since his Bears made a magical run to the national title. I would take this guy based on his nickname, “Off-Night”, alone. He’s the best on-ball defender in this draft and from what I saw in the NCAA Tournament, he’s an excellent play-maker as he averaged a team-high 5.5 APG. Playing alongside Jordan Poole in the 2nd unit, the two can really benefit from each other. The bench had stretches where they lacked any sort of offensive production and Mitchell can fix that.

Fans may be worried about his size at 6’ 2” but he makes up for it in his lateral quickness and speed. Another underrated part of his game is three-point shooting. He shot at a 44.7 3P% clip while making a little over 2 triples per game during his time at Waco this past season. You can’t give him space out on the perimeter.

Warriors GM Bob Myers said this after Tuesday’s lottery: "We're not trying to develop players at the risk of losing... That's not the plan." Davion is a player that can help a team win right now.

Corey Kispert, Gonzaga

Yes, I’m a bit biased. But if you have been watching the NBA playoffs, you should have taken one big thing away from what makes these young teams like the Hawks or the Suns so successful. Their roster is built with shooters all around. You can never have too many shooters on your team. And it just so happens, that the dude from Spokane, Washington is easily the best shooter in the draft.

The best part is that you don’t just stick him out at the three-point line and let him sit there, waiting for the ball to be swung around to his hands. Kispert has turned into a three-level scorer during his time under Mark Few, actually was almost a 50-40-90 scorer (finished with 52.9 FG%, 44.0 3P%, 87.8 FT%). That’s what I call an efficient bucket-getter.

Corey has great size, a solid frame at 6’ 7” for his position and he uses that build to attack the rim with a purpose. His ball-handling continues to improve and you can see it on his isolation plays where he gives a little dance, pulls out a mid-range jumper on his defender. His scoring ability off-the-dribble is overlooked.

Both of these 4-year college guys have winning experience and that will translate into the NBA. The Warriors would be extremely lucky if this was their haul coming out of the NBA Draft.
