NBA journeyman, Pat Beverley of the Minnesota Timberwolves, has never been one to shy away from a confrontation, especially if it’s on a basketball court. Look no further than an interaction he had with Stephen Curry for a prime example of this.

In a 2016 first-round matchup with Beverley and his then team, the Houston Rockets, Beverley and Curry got tangled up on a play when Beverley made an over-aggressive defensive swipe and wouldn’t let up after the official’s whistle blew.

Sure, Curry and Beverley have had other run-ins on the hardwood as well, but the two are actually friends and have been roommates many times in the past, dating back some years ago, as Beverley mentioned following a game in January of 2020.

“Steph is like a brother — I don’t really talk about relationships with the people I do have in the NBA — Freshman year of college, roommates. USA team, roommates. Sophomore year of college, Paul Pierce camp, roommates. Lebron James camp, roommates — these are things people don’t know, but we been knowing each other since we were pups.”

So when Stephen Curry commented on a House of Highlights Instagram post, featuring Beverley getting into a physical exchange with Jonas Valančiūnas of the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday evening, with multiple laughing emoji’s, the odd scuffle between the two was all the more hilarious as you knew Curry was getting a kick out of seeing his old pal just being himself, an absolute pest.

Pat Bev will always be Pat Bev, and it’s clear that even though he can be a pest on the defensive end of a basketball court, or in the most recent case while a player is attempting to shoot free-throws(LOL), he does so with the intentions of trying to help his team win basketball games. You can really tell he’s sincere about that. Most of his issues with other players on the court come as he attempts to get into their heads, a trademark of Beverley’s game.

I think Steph understands that and also appreciates the comedic aspect that comes from many of Beverley’s altercations.

We won’t have to wait very long to get our next dose of Curry vs. Beverley as the T-Wolves will visit Chase Center on Nov. 10. I’m almost positive we’ll see some sort of antics from Beverley during that game as Steph has been as impossible as ever to stop. Beverley will have to pull out all the stops.
