Twitter User Issues Death Threat Directed Towards Draymond Green

As the Warriors were in the middle of giving the Pelicans a shellacking at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, a twitter user decided it would be funny to issue a death threat directed at Draymond Green.  The since deleted post which was allegedly written by twitter user @polksalad read:

The ill advised tweet was soon removed by the user and soon after the users profile had been deactivated.

Following the game Green was asked to respond to the situation.

The offending twitter user then re-activated their account to tweet an apology which was likely written as an attempt at damage control.  Shortly later, again, the account was de-activated.  Apparently @polksalad is a comedian and was making a joke with a poor taste in judgement.  Seems more like a fake apology to me but you can be the judge.

Quite possibly the best tweet to come out of the entire fiasco was from Warriors’ forward David West who was able to express most peoples thoughts towards Mr. Polk in a few simple words.

Hopefully this serves as an example that any sort of violent threats towards anyone on social media let alone a professional athlete is not taken lightly.  The playful jabs are all part of the fun in cheering for or not cheering for your favorite player or sports team however there are pretty obvious lines that should never be crossed.
